SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential technical skills and professional experience:
At least three years of proven professional experience with language technologies or in the field of natural language processing.
Experience managing language resources, such as translation memories or termbases.
Desirable Technical Skills:
Ability to evaluate data and processes to identify gaps and inefficiencies.
Experience in gathering business needs and drafting user stories.
Awareness of software development cycles or Agile methodologies.
Experience with machine translation applications and metrics.
Knowledge of AI or NLP principles and techniques.
Knowledge of or experience in testing language applications.
Knowledge of exchange format standards and specifications (e.g., XLIFF, TMX).
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
· Be a national of a Member State of the European Union.
Qualifications and professional experience:
· a level of post-secondary education corresponding to at least 2 years of study attested by a diploma[1], followed by at least 3 years of professional experience relevant to the duties described in this procedure,
or
· secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education, followed by at least 6 years of professional experience relevant to the duties described in this procedure.
· language knowledge: an in-depth knowledge of one of the languages of the European Union (at least level C1), and a satisfactory knowledge of another official language of the European Union, to the level necessary for carrying out the required duties (at least level B2)[2]. The tests will be conducted in English. Knowledge of French may also be tested on the basis of the applicant’s declarations on linguistic competence (see point 4.b below).
The above eligibility criteria apply to all candidates (internal, interagency and external).
Below are the eligibility criteria for each category:
External applicants
· A level of post-secondary education corresponding to at least 2 years of study attested by a diploma, followed by at least 3 years of professional experience relevant to the duties described in this procedure,
or
· secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education, followed by at least 6 years of professional experience relevant to the duties described in this procedure.
Inter-agency applicants
· On the closing date for applications and on the day of filling the vacant post, be engaged as temporary staff under Article 2(f) of CEOS within their agency in a grade and function group corresponding grade bracket AST1– AST3;
· Have at least two years’ service within their agency before moving;
· Have successfully completed the probationary period as provided for in Article 14 of the CEOS in the relevant function group.
Internal applicants
· Be a member of temporary staff engaged under Article 2(f) of CEOS at the Translation Centre in grade AST1– AST9.
or
· Be an Official at the Translation Centre in grade AST1– AST9.
[1] Only diplomas and certificates that have been awarded in EU Member States or that are the subject of equivalence certificates issued by authorities in the said Member States shall be taken into consideration.
[2] Levels defined according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
